Preparing to Go
There are many things to consider prior to going on a mission trip. Hearts should be open to grow, passports should be applied for early in the process and fundraising is also a consideration. To download instructions and an application for a passport, go to: travel.state.gov/passport.
The cost of the mission trip is something else to consider. CCA offers opportunities for students to raise money through working at NIU football games and the downtown booth at Pumpkin Fest. In the past the trips have cost around $1000-$1200. Students may plan ahead by working summer jobs to help offset this cost. If someone has to work for something, it usually has more meaning to them. Therefore, we strongly encourage students to earn a large portion of the cost of the trip. Students may also write letters of support to church members or youth group.
In order to be approved for a CCA sponsored mission trip, students must also have a recommendation letter from their pastor, youth group leader, or Bible study leader. If a student is not attending church, we recommend that they begin getting involved early on at a church, local youth group, or Bible study. Students must also have the recommendation of their principal. Students must not only be making smart choices at school, but also out of school. All aspects of a students character are looked at before a student is approved.
Finally, the student should examine their desire to go on the trip. While it is always fun to travel with friends and see new things and experience new adventure, it is also hard work. We don't travel with the comforts of home. Each student should spend time in prayer examining if this is how they would like to serve the Lord. However, it is the hope of CCA that every student experience an overseas mission trip before they graduate from high school!

CCA Parents and Students:
Please bookmark this address and check it regularly for updates regarding our upcoming 2009 mission trips to Spain and Costa Rica. We will post new information as soon as it is received. Students have the opportunity to sign-up now to serve during the NIU Huskie football games. A portion of the proceeds received during each game will go toward the cost of the trip. This is a great way for students to work along side with mission team members and earn money to help pay their way!
